Spend Locally is run by Ariane Khachatourians (who spends her days project managing Drupal developers in Vancouver), and is a blog, as well as a tool to help people find local businesses that provide services or products they are looking for within British Columbia. It can be difficult to find local businesses that have what you need, and this site is intended to help you search for businesses closest to you.

Supporting local businesses is great for many reasons! Shorter transport distances save money and lower pollution, and even help keep traffic lighter! Spending your money at locally owned businesses also means that your hard earned money is helping to pay the salaries of people in your community rather than filling pockets of larger corporations. You know who is making the product or providing the service, which means that you can ask them where stuff came from and what's in it.
